Fertilisation results are in

Yesterday's egg retrieval went amazingly well. I was quite nervous because my last experience was so unusual, when I woke up mid-procedure and then had lots of blood afterwards. I told the anesthetist before we went into theatre so he treated me with kid-gloves and said he would pump the juice up a little. Whether or not he did, I certainly appreciated him saying it. I remembered one of the nurses in recovery from last time, she wasn't looking after me but told my nurse that I had a big bleed last time and so I had to sit up for a while before being allowed to stand. I couldn't believe the nurse remembered me from November last year, and cared enough to intervene in my treatment.

The increased meds worked. They retrieved 12 eggs! The clinic called this morning to say that 8 were mature and 7 have fertilised. I am so excited! We always lose a few on the way to blastocycst, so starting off with 7 should definitely net us at least 2 for transfer.

At this stage transfer will be Monday 28th. I am using Preg.nyl for luteal phase support this time so the injections continue, but I feel much better knowing we are trying different things. Does anyone know any old wives tales (heck I'll even try scientifically-proven methods if anyone knows any) for thickening the uterine lining?

Hey there,

Just out of curiosity I watched that soap the other day. Brook stole Taylor's baby!

Great news about your eggs. Wow, 12 Eggs! Seven fertilised! Your reproductive system is behaving like that of a young woman. I have so got my fingers crossed for you. I'll keep checking back to see how you're going.

I am afraid I know nothing about anything that will help with your lining, apart from having a polyp out/D&C prior to embryo transfer.

There's also traditional chinese medicine (herbs) and acupuncture.

This is Australian ...

In fact, I've just made up my mind ... I'm going to give this chinese meidicine a go ... cannot hurt. I'm making an appointment today. Just don't know where yet - I'll have to find somewhere around Melbourne.

Update ... I just checked and Hatch Therapies is at Clifton Hill! I'm going to give them a call. If I hear of anything else I'll let you know.

Well done 7/12 is a fantastic start! Also glad it wasn't another EPU from hell.

I'm investing in a couple of acupunture sessions too.

Best of luck with the growth to blast! xo

That is a wonderful fertilization report! You have an excellent chance at a decent number of blastocysts.

Good Luck!

Congrats on a great fertilization report! I'll be hoping for a smooth great transfer for you in a couple of days. That's cool that the nurse remembered you. Sounds like you had a rough time last time! I'm hoping that there isn't a single bump or obstacle this time! Best of luck.
